Braces in Colorado Springs, CO

At Johnson Orthodontics in Colorado Springs, we use the latest technology to make sure our patients get the best care imaginable. We use high-tech braces DamonĀ® Braces.

Traditional braces are anything but.

Traditional metal braces are the most common type of braces and are more comfortable today than ever before.

  • Made of high-grade stainless steel or titanium
  • Straighten your teeth using metal brackets & archwires
  • Lighter, and more comfortable than braces from the ā€˜90s
  • Customize your look with colored rubber bands

Benefits of Damon Braces

  • These self-ligating braces use doors instead of traditional brackets to hold the wire in place
  • No ties or bands needed
  • Keep your teeth cleaner and healthier
  • Reduces friction making your treatment more gentle and more effective
  • Fewer office visits than traditional braces or clear aligners

We've been here a lot this year for our 3 boys and we couldn't be happier with the results. Between braces, retainers, and other equipment, the service and hospitality is fantastic. Prices are very competitive. Location is great. When we go we really feel like we are part of the Johnson Orthodontist family! They're also always quick to get us in for last minute appointments 😁

To successfully complete the treatment plan, the patient must work together with the orthodontist. The teeth and jaw can only move toward their corrected positions if the patient consistently wears the rubber bands or other appliances as prescribed. Damaged appliances lengthen the treatment time. Generally, a broken/loose bracket can be fixed at your next regular appointment. Accidents involving trauma to your face and lips should be managed by the emergency room or your general dentist. If you have a pokey wire that you cannot manage with wax, call our office to be connected with someone who can help.

Phase I Treatment

It is best for an orthodontist to see children by age seven to advise if orthodontic treatment is required. The first permanent molars and incisors have usually come in by this time and crossbites, crowding, and other problems can be evaluated.

Braces are amazing at straightening your smile. Yet, some foods aren’t so amazing to your braces. Below is a list of foods to avoid during treatment.

Foods To Avoid:

  • Apples (Don’t bite into a whole apple! Cut it into wedges first.)
  • Bubble Gum (Sugarless gum is OK.)
  • Sticky Hard Candy (Caramel, taffy, nut brittle, chewy candies, etc.)
  • Carrots (Avoid sticks, cut into thin curls.)
  • Corn on the cob (You may enjoy corn off the cob.)
  • Corn chips/hard tacos
  • Hard foods (Tough on braces and causing bending or breaking.)
  • Soda and other sugary drinks
  • Ice (No crunching!)
  • Nuts
  • Pizza crust/crusty bread (Outer edges.)
  • Pretzels (The large, hard varieties.)

Pro-Tip:

If you eat any of the above items, don’t worry. Just try to remember to brush your teeth as soon as possible after you eat them. If you aren’t able to brush your teeth right after, then just rinse your mouth out as best as you can with water. If you can’t avoid eating these items, InvisalignĀ® may be the perfect option for your smile needs.
